A Look Back at 2013

2013 has been such a memorable year.  So, before we say farewell to this year, I wanted to take a ride down memory lane and remember the visitors, the concerts, the baseball games, the weddings, the birthdays, and the vacations.   In no particular order, here are the top moments/highlights from our 2013:

+ We celebrated Valentine’s day by going out, totally new for us!

+  Family visits, round 1:  *Amanda, Lisa and Forest’s grandparents during spring break  *My mom and dad during Easter  *Frosty over Memorial weekend

+ We were able to get David Freese’s autograph at the Phillies/Cardinals game!

+  The MLB All-Star Fan Fest was in NYC, since the All-Star game was at Citi Field, which is where we met Tony LaRussa and got his autograph

+ We got to enjoy a Rascal Flatts concert and were lucky enough that the rain held off until the encore!

+ We trained long and hard for our first-ever race and finishing it was amazing!  Boomer’s 10k Run to Breathe for Cystic Fibrosis.

+ Family visits, round 2: Michelle, Abby and my mom came to NJ so they could celebrate Michelle’s 50th birthday in NYC!

+  Newsies!  We saw this on Broadway during Michelle’s celebration weekend and it was fabulous!

+  Backstreet Boys concert – 20 years later.  A childhood dream come true!

+  Indiana wedding #1 – Kyle and Cait! 6/15/2013

+  Indiana wedding #2 – Mark and Katie!  6/29/2013

+  We got to take our very first, week-long vacation and we spent it in Orlando, FL!  We spent several days at Universal Studios theme park, a couple days poolside, and another day at a Tampa Bay Rays game. [take me back!]

+  I celebrated my 25th birthday this year.  And it just happened to be during our FL vacation.  We spent the day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, had dinner and dessert at an Irish-style pub, and sang along with the dueling pianos into the night!

+  We found out we have a little nephew on the way, due in May!  I still haven’t completely wrapped my head around the fact that I’m going to be an aunt (eek!) but we’ve been praying non-stop for a healthy pregnancy for Shelby and the baby.

+  The Cardinals made it to the World Series this year!  Wacha Wacha!

+  We celebrated 2 years of marriage and I’ve only fallen more in love with Forest since our wedding day.

+ A planned (and executed flawlessly, if I do say so myself) a surprise 25th birthday trip for Forest to Cooperstown, NY and the Baseball Hall of Fame!

+ Family visits, round 3: *the Johnson’s in November for Thanksgiving  *the Shodlouski’s in December for Christmas.

+  My friend Megan’s engagement to her long-time boyfriend! yay!

+  We started house hunting this year!  It’s been an up-and-down process but exciting nonetheless!

+  We are continuing to build amazing friendships in New Jersey.  One of our biggest ‘fears’ moving out here was making friends and I’m so glad we have these people, and more, in our lives.

+ We started this little blog!

There was so much more that happened in between the big things too, but I don’t want you reading all night and miss the ball drop!

We’re looking forward to 2014!!  We don’t know what lies ahead but we have been learning to, and will continue to, trust in God for everything.

Happy New Year!!

Until next time — Cindy
