So I have grand plans. I want to write more posts (I have ideas!) and I want to share more pictures (I have a ton sitting on the camera!). I say that life gets in the way but really… Life is just happening. It’s not in the way at all! It’s currently a wonderful whirlwind of busy and fun and a whole-lotta firsts for Peyton and I’m savoring every moment of it.
So instead of individual posts for each of these fun, life-is-happening moments I’m clumping them all into one!
We put up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving (And we never will put it up sooner! We have to enjoy Thanksgiving completely before moving onto the next holiday!) and it was just so much fun having Peyton help us. Her first Christmas tree! (And this was totally real life – ninja turtle pajama pants, sweats and hair a mess, clean laundry in the basket waiting to be folded. real life.)
You can find us sitting near the tree most evenings – Peyton loves to look see the lights and reach for the sparkly ornaments.
We decorated the outside of the house. Last year we just did the lights around the bushes and columns by the door. This year we took it up a notch with the lights around the roof. And then I went and fell in love with the JOY sign so we bought one of those + a solar powered light. I think this is just the sweetest sight when I pull into the driveway every evening.
We took a trip to visit Santa one weekend recently. There was no line to see him [thank goodness] so we just stepped right on up, plopped Peyton on his lap, the guy behind the camera shook a tambourine and Peyton looked up with a big grin on her face. I’m pretty sure it’s a requirement for all parents to say this about their kids but isn’t she the cutest?! My heart crumbles into a million pieces every time I look at this picture!
Christmas cookies is a tradition we do every year! This year I thought we should do 2 batches since we were taking some to a Christmas party, I wanted to take some to work, we gave some to our neighbors and we still wanted some for ourselves to enjoy. Two batches made A LOT of cookies but not too many – you can never have too many Christmas cookies! Peyton had so much fun just hanging out in her high-chair that we pulled up next to the island. She was chatting and throwing toys and watching us. We let her icing a cookie! She tried putting the cookie in her mouth so many times! I think she got a taste of some icing before she was done.
Until next time — Cindy
