I just jumped back into blogging after a 2 month hiatus so I never shared the news on here that we’re expecting a baby GIRL in June!

  1. For Peyton to be completely moved into her new room – we have a few to-do’s before we officially move her but I want her to be in her new room by the end of this month.
  2. Finish the quilt I started for our baby girl.
  3. Keep kitchen island clear of clutter.

Until next time — Cindy

Thoughts on Thursday – 8.25.2016

On this very day 11 years ago, a small town girl said YES to dating a small town boy and they never looked back.  I’m so extremely thankful for high school Spanish class, physics homework, and new cell phones that we used to call each other late at night to talk about everything under the sun. (you can read about how we started dating in THIS POST).  Forest, 11 years ago I said yes and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.  You’ve been the peanut butter to my jelly and my greatest supporter.  Thank you so much for loving me!

I Facetimed with a friend today and even though I had several interruptions (hi there crying-baby-who-is-supposed-to-be-napping and FedEx guy), it was a sweet time to catch up.  I’m always so encouraged by this lovely lady and I think she’s the sweetest.  And I would say the same things even if she hadn’t just celebrated her birthday. :)

My mom has been going through/is going through some tough stuff recently (she is such a tough woman and is such an inspiration and I really wish she WASN’T going through any of this) but today she got a bit of good news from her doctor and I’m over here doing happy dances and praising God for his healing hands.

Forest said that a co-worker told him if he isn’t watching Big Brother After Dark or Big Brother Live feeds that he isn’t a Big Brother fan and I have to disagree BUT we will be recording Big Brother After Dark tonight and we’ll see what it’s all about.

Tomorrow if Friday and I’m going into work.  And I’m not looking forward to it.

Peyton has entered the stage of mini-tantrums.  If she doesn’t get her way (mostly if she’s tired and we try to set her down after carrying her on our hip) she will bend herself in half while she’s sitting on the floor and fake-cry into the floor OR she’ll throw herself backwards and fuss.  She’s hit her head a couple times doing that though so she doesn’t do it as often.  BUT she’s also all about Indie recently.  She will wrap her arms around Indie’s neck to give hugs and she gives kisses every chance she gets.  Peyton loves to think Indie is chasing her.  Just today Peyton was by my feet as I was washing dishes and Indie came into the kitchen, minding her own business and not even looking in our direction, and Peyton shrieked and screamed and buried her head in my legs, laughing the whole time.

I photographed TWO weddings at the end of July and as of today, I have delivered pictures to both couples.  OH YEAH!

Take me back to Lake Placid, please!  We had such an amazing vacation last week.  Perfect weather, no agenda, relaxation to the max!  I’ll be posting about it (hopefully) next week!

Forest started his LAST SEMESTER OF GRAD SCHOOL this week!  I’m so proud of that guy!  He’s going to be busy with 2 classes but he’s going to rock this semester and walk at graduation in December!

Forest and I started working out again this week (vacation interrupted our previous attempt to be consistent) and we are SO sore!  We were doing T25 but it just wasn’t cutting it for me.  I didn’t feel like I was getting a good workout so this week we popped Jillian Micheal’s (we’ve had this DVD for a few years but the workout is still effective!) in and yeah, I’m feeling it!

Does anyone have advice on drinking more water during the day?  I’ve never had a problem drinking water while I’m at work but now that I’m home more during the week I often realize I haven’t been drinking water until lunch time and then I try to guzzle as much as I can the rest of the day (and usually don’t do a very good job about it!)

And I’ll leave you with this: A few summer slow cooker ideas.

Until next time — Cindy

date night. 06.17.2016 #DashboardConfessional

Peyton turned O N E at the beginning of this month!  We had a fun little party to celebrate!

Forest’s 2nd father’s day was quiet and cool but (I think) perfect for him.

We took our family pictures this month.  Something we’ll continue for many more years.  Well, I don’t know if we will always take our own pictures but we’ll get updated family pictures.

I wrote a little letter to Peyton.  It’s something I want to do every year around her birthday.

I just found a post I had saved in my drafts from the beginning of June so I just published it this week – you can find it here.  You’ll want to check out the adorable pictures of Peyton and Indie.

  1. Dig into studying Acts. The past home group sessions have been spent diving into Acts using Wirsbe’s study guides.  I haven’t been able to go to home groups because our starts right at Peyton’s bedtime but we have the study guides at home since Forest is a leader.  I’ve started studying several times the past several months but I really need to just dig into it!
  2. Organize our books and sort our papers. I read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and the first step is clothing which we went through and donated 1 HUGE bag of clothing from our dressers and closets in March or April.  The next step is books and papers and I’ve been avoiding this tidying because we have papers everywhere in our house.  I know I’ll feel better and we’ll be more organized after I tackle this task but man…. It’s gonna be a tough one.
  3. Practice/get familiar with using my 70-200mm lens. I have TWO weddings that I’m photographing in July and I’ve read that this lens is critical for the ceremony as a way to stay out of guests view but still get the images you need.  I’m a little intimidated but I’m going to drag Forest and Peyton to a local park so I can get some practice using it.
  4. Visit the library.  I started reading Outlander (as I mentioned above) but I just borrowed the eBook through our library that I’m reading on my iPad.  I think I’d like to have a short, cute beach read to kinda carry along with me.

Until next time — Cindy

Forest Says – VOL. 7

QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE-  It’s been crazy!  A good kind of crazy, of course.  Peyton is 4 weeks old today (!!) and we’ve just been going through the motions of making sure she’s fed, healthy and happy. Forest went back to work last week so I’ve been ‘juggling’ taking care of Peyton and actually getting dressed at some point during the day.  I’ve been recovering from my ceserean really well.  Some days I’m more sore than others but overall I feel really good.  Forest has been awesome with taking care of us – changing diapers, cooking dinner, playing with Indie, hanging out in the nursery with me while I feed Peyton, dealing with my occasional cry sessions (thanks hormones!), and overall being the best husband and daddy ever.  Posting has been light recently but I hope to find a good routine so I can start posting regularly again (I did post about Indie’s 1st BirthdayPeyton’s delivery and Forest’s first Father’s Day).  Although Indie has a terrible habit of barking at me whenever I’m sitting at the desk so I’ll have to either deal with that or figure out how to make her stop… Either way, enjoy the funny moments below.

At Babies R Us as he’s getting down a stroller box and it lands on his toes:

F:  Good job big toe!

As I get back into bed after using the bathroom in the middle of the night:

F: Are you alright babe?

C:  Yeah.

F: [mumbles something]

C: What’s wrong?

F: Oh it’s only 2 o’clock.  Thank God.  I thought it was time to get up.

In a text:

F: I may or may not have ate some of your potato salad with lunch, and I may or many be craving it and ready to eat it for dinner.  So you may or may not have made really good potato salad.  But I guess I’m not sure.

At an ultrasound at the beginning of May we were told that baby girl is measuring a little small but nothing to be concerned about.

F: I guess you should eat more protein.  No cereal and more chicken.

C:  Chicken for breakfast?

F:  Breakfast, dinner and your snack!

Conversation through text:

C: To do tonight: order flowers.  Liked to do tonight: look at chairs for the den, study Lightroom, watch survivor, run to target.

F: To do tonight: take off pants.  order flowers.  do nothing (play video game??)

Conversation through text:

C: Should I mail our state return certified or just mail is regularly and save $3?

F: Certify that shiz bruh!

In the middle of the night:

F (shouting): You mean to tell me that only the owner and his immediate family can use the gun range?  That is ridiculous!

C (actually waking him up):  Forest, are you ok?  What are you shouting about?

F:  I was just… um… I just wanted to know if anyone could use it…

A random text:

F:  Do you ever wonder what cheerios are?  We just eat them everyday but idk what it’s made of. haha.  Could be a ring of squishy cat litter?  Haha!  Idk why I’m thinking of this

As he’s folding newborn clothes that I just washed, before Peyton was born:

F:  How can you look at these little baby clothes and not smile?

A day or two after we get home from the hospital, I wake him up in the middle of the night to tell him I’m afraid to go to sleep because I want to hear if Peyton spits up:

F:  There are plenty of people here babe.  I think we’ve got it covered.

In the middle of the night as I’m laying Peyton in the bassinet after nursing:

F:  What’s the word coach?  Am I in or am I out?

C:  Are you talking to me babe?

F:  So you need me in that last D-spot down there or not?

C:  Babe… Are you talking to me?

F (clearly frustrated):  Yes!  You asked a question and I just spoke words didn’t I?

C:  But I don’t know what you mean by D-spot….

F:  nevermind then.  *huffs and rolls away from me*
