52 Project – 2015 [weeks 35-52]

I did it!  I finally finished my Project 52 album for 2015! [you can check out other of my Project 52 posts here.]  I’ve already flipped through the pages several times and I love it so much!  I have a lot of leftover cards from my core kit but I can’t decide how I’ll use them.  I’m working on a Project 365 this year (I know!  I’m crazy!) so I’ll probably make another album for those pictures! I really want to continue improving my skills and it doesn’t hurt that Peyton and Indie are so easy to photograph everyday!

Thoughts on Thursday – 1.21.2016

I’ve been using this planner (it looks like they are completely sold out right now!) since it arrived earlier this month and I love it!  I have ample space for scheduling, to-do’s, dinner, & notes.

I just ordered these two photography books to help with posing: this baby/kid/family book and this wedding book (since I’m photographing my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law’s wedding in July!).

Speaking of photography, be sure to like Captured by Cindy Photography on Facebook!  And if you’re in the central New Jersey area, I’m booking sessions for 2016!

I have a 7 month old who reaches for my hair if it’s not pulled back.  I wish I had the skill (and time! or maybe just patience…) to make my hair do something fancy like this for work or special occasions or even something casual like this cute side braid for the weekend.

Forest has a 6 month free trial of Amazon Prime.  He got it when he ordered his books for class this semester.  I was talking to a fellow mommy on Monday during a play date and she said Amazon Prime is absolutely worth the $100/year because she gets diapers & wipes cheaper (with free, 2-day shipping!), watches tv shows, etc.  We’ll have to see what all Amazon Prime has to offer and decide if it’ll be worth it for us to pay for when the 6 months is up!

This would be a really good (and thoughtful!) gift for soon-to-be and new mommies.

We are throwing around ideas for vacation this year.  I think we’ve agreed on a cabin/cottage somewhere and if it’s close enough to a baseball stadium that would be a plus!  I’ve mentioned Lake George in upstate NY & Niagara Falls (we could hit up the Toronto Blue Jays in Canada).  We had planned on going to Maryland a two summers ago but didn’t make it.  What are some good vacation spots that we’d be able to enjoy with a 1 year old?  Would a cruise be do-able?

We may or may not be getting a bunch of snow this weekend (the weathermen can never decide).  Whether we just get a few inches or we get up to 12 like they say is possible, we’ll be inside cuddling and probably watching movies – we got Peyton all the classic Disney movies for Christmas so we’ll have plenty to watch!

I’m [slowly] working on our 2015 family yearbook.  I make one every year (check out previous albums: 2014, 2013, 2012) using Mixbook.  I usually try to stay up-to-date so I’m ready to order it January but I didn’t this year.  I’ll work on it over the next few weeks and I’ll hopefully have it ready to order when they’re running a good special!

Lastly, check out my post that recapped 2015 here!

Until next time — Cindy

52 Project 2015 [weeks 5-8]

I’m sharing weeks 5-8 in my 52 Project for 2015 today.

(If you’d like to catch up, you can read about how I decided to complete my project here, and you can check out weeks 1-4 here)

52 Project - 2015

^gender reveal & week 5

I decided to add our gender reveal picture into my 52 Project for 2015 because it’s such a big part of the year, and our lives!  You can see on the left side above that I have a post-it note to remind me what picture goes there.  I’ll have to print it with my next round of pictures.  The right side is week 5 – the week Indie got a new bed!

^week 8

I’m realizing two things as I pull from the pictures I take each week: 1. there are SO many of Indie right now and 2. I take very similar pictures every week.  I really want to start thinking more creatively as I take pictures.  Is there a way to train my brain to think creatively?!

Until next time — Cindy

2014 Family Photo Album

I mentioned on Friday that we got our 2014 family album in the mail.  And I’m here to share a few of my favorite pages.

I continued using Mixbook for our 2014 album.  It’s easy to use – they have pre-made layouts that you can just drag and drop your pictures into if you prefer.  I picked a simple book and then added extra pictures to certain pages, added text when needed, added several extra pages, and created my own page layouts when I wanted.  Mixbook’s customization options are endless – there are several book sizes and paper choices.  And I always make sure I wait for the 40% off order codes before ordering so I’m not paying an arm and a leg.

Here’s our album!

I realized as I was taking pictures that I missed adding some pictures to our album.  My plan is print off 4×6 photos and add them to an envelope in the back of the album.

You can see our 2012 album here and our 2013 album here.

Until next time — Cindy
